Becoming Picasso: Paris 1901, The Courtauld Gallery

This exhibition showcases paintings Picasso produced at the age of 19. There's a strong influence from other artists and the sudden suicide of his friend in a Parisian cafe. You can see the progression through that year of his style and how he developed his techniques. The works at the beginning of his Blue Period almost made me cry I found them so moving. I strongly recommend a visit. It's only two rooms but it is a very beautiful experience.

starstarstarstarstar "“The Courtauld Gallery has excelled itself by mounting a tight, compelling, and beautifully installed exhibition, full of first-class works of art borrowed from important institutions around the world. Don’t miss it." The Telegraph

"The most exuberant, magnificently focused selection of early Picassos that I have encountered" The Financial Times

starstarstarstarstar "“The Courtauld Gallery, which has brought us a succession of tightly focused small exhibitions in recent years, has come up with another real stunner." The Independent

Steve Buscemi/ Grimes/ Vampire Weekend

American Express, in partnership with VEVO and YouTube, announced at the beginning of the month that Vampire Weekend, and award-winning actor, director and producer Steve Buscemi, have been selected to kick-off the fourth year in its popular live stream music series, “American Express Unstaged.” I know what I'll be watching 9pm tonight. There's viral a video where Grimes appears in a park where he tries to convince her to have Brunch with him and Vampire Weekend.

Shades of Pink

I think pink is such an underrated colour. When contrasted against oranges or blues hot pink can be nicer than red and leave more of a statement.

Why my love for Winona Ryder is so vast...

Winona Ryder in high-school

“I was wearing an old Salvation Army shop boy’s suit. As I went to the bathroom I heard people saying, ‘Hey, faggot’. They slammed my head into a locker. I fell to the ground and they started to kick the shit out of me. I had to have stitches. The school kicked me out, not the bullies.

“Years later, I went to a coffee shop and I ran into one of the girls who’d kicked me, and she said, ‘Winona, Winona, can I have your autograph?’ And I said, ‘Do you remember me? Remember in seventh grade you beat up that kid?’ And she said, ‘Kind of’. And I said, ‘That was me. Go fuck yourself.’”

Listen to this song and take in the vibes, imagine sitting on a swinging chair sipping a cold drink through a stripy straw, your feet caressing dry grass and bathing in subterranean heat...

These are the vibes I'm obsessing over this season. This is how I would be feeling if Spring weather was how it was meant to be. But this holiday I'm going to be in BRAZIL!

Rouge

In the words of Gweneth Pawtro "Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick." Is it not vital for everyone to have that one lipstick, that one divine colour that forever will match your skin tone. I had that colour once and now it is somewhere probably lost under piles of junk. The worst part is it wasn't new, it was irreplaceable, it was an old Clinique, it was amazing! How many times have we seen the red lipstick show its rouge glam on celeb's faces. You don't need Scarlett Johansson's lips to pull it off (it would help though).

Age Restrictions

Age is such a frustrating thing; it restricts everyone no matter how old they are. In someways you are the most free when you know nothing at the tender age of seven, all sticky and ripe from no fear of living. The only reason you cry is for ice-cream or because you've fallen over. The more you live the more you cry.
My head is full of confusion and yearning for things that seem unobtainable. I used to want to be as commonplace as a character from 'Pollyanna' but now I want to be a mad, wild character worthy of a Jack Kerouac novel, penniless but crazy about life and learning from it. The trouble is people don't except that now and I think ironically the closest I've ever been to that dream was when I was seven. It's sad really that probably I'll end up in a decent job with decent pay; a person who when she was younger was stupid enough to want to go wild and gave up trying hard at school in subjects that seemed so irrelevant. Another face on the tube. Barely affecting anyones life. It's pathetic. The more I live the more ropes will try to tie up my brain into nice neat bows.

The Carrie Diaries

I AM IN LOVE with this tv show. It's young 16 year old Carrie Bradshaw from 'sex and the city' set in the 80's. It includes fabulous clothes, gorgeous guys and a perfect-for-sleepovers plot. I WANT HER LIFE.urgh.

Monnassi

He was born in Seoul, in 1980. He now lives and works in Vienna. He studied fine arts at a university, specialized in Traditional East-Asian Art/Paintings. He is also working as a graphic designer. To me his work is very philosophical, beautiful and deep. Using ink and a minimalistic style, Daehyun Kim has created a distinctive, individual identity with his drawings that mark themselves out as his own the moment any viewer spreads their eyes over them. And just like butter melting over warm toast, these drawings are elegant, simple and highly evocative.

Kenji Kawasumi's MA collection for CSM is very detailed. It reminds me of the mystic Maharajas from the 20th century.

Submarine

I cannot describe how much I love this movie. It is so beautiful. I took snapshots of his room because I want it. It's about a 15 year old kid called Oliver Tate from Whales. Chapter 1 is about his new relationship with a girl called Jordana. Chapter 2 is about his parents crumbling relationship and it echos Woody Allen with a french new wave feel too, it's similar to Wes Anderson. I can relate to his character so much.

this is my favorite bit

"Jordana and I enjoyed an atavistic, glorious fortnight of lovemakin'; humiliatin' teachers and bullying the weak. I have already turned these moments into the Super-8 footage of memory." -  Oliver Tate

That one special thing...

Every girl has that thing that makes her feel special. Perhaps some jewelry, a dress, a song, a talent or a lipstick. All our favorite leading ladies have that thing that makes them different and special. Claire from the 'Breakfast Club' is a pretty average high school 'Miss Popularity' but she becomes a bit quirkier when she shows her 'embarrasing' hidden talent.
