The Hopeless Romantic

There is something so amazing about being a hopeless romantic. It is a whole genre of sappiness. It is endearing and awkward. I love this whole romanticism of being a hopeless romantic. For generations  writers, poets, directors and photographers have tried to convey the teen girl hopelessness. The colours textures, photo's and movies give teen girls a reason to be a teen. The photos of teen heart throbs taped onto walls. Heart shaped candy. Pink. Yellow haze and 60's songs. Writing, 'love you' on your eyes and blinking at your hot teacher. Hoarding. Watching Grease a bazillion times while eating junk. Fluffy toys. And last of all sleepovers with girl gangs! Girl gangs in movies usually comprise a fierce set of characters with badass attitudes spitting out memorable one-liners. Not only do they have eternally cool nicknames, but they also possess some of the best style seen on the silver screen. At school they are un-mixable un-changeable types of girls.  And whilst a movie plays on these characteristics and makes them fantasised and magical these ideals are un-achievable. But movies and magazines keep covering us in pink frilly heart shaped blindfolds.

The Bowl-less Sundae

Step 1: Put a scoop of ice cream in your mouth.
Step 2: Don’t eat it.
Step 3: Spray some whipped cream into your mouth.
Step 4: Drizzle chocolate syrup over the whipped cream.
Step 5: Eat the mixture.
Step 6: Feel awesome and satisfied.
The beauty of the bowl-less sundae is that there’s minimal cleanup. You also get all the flavor of a sundae without having to make an actual sundae. But beware, this isn’t for amateur midnight snackers. In order to pull the bowl-less sundae off successfully, you’re going to need a really solid understanding of your gag reflex and a good sense of the radius of your mouth.

Cropped

I guess that the cropped look originated from the lack of materials or the stages of minimalism i.e., the 90's were it wasn't trendy what you wore but what you didn't wear. Fashion was defined by different materials that had never been known to be used as clothing. Cropping is a style most commonly used with the tall and slender. Making them look not so freakishly tall but showing off their boy frame. The cropped top has become most commonly used now in high street and mainstream fashion of those that don't want to be categorized as indie etc and just follow to be cool; I call these people the Topshop Clones. If you are american it is much less of a problem, in England especially the Topshop Clones wear bright pink knits with embroided black lips on them, the recent off spring from the Topshop Clones are now the Forever 21 Clones. It is now a common occurrence that a clone would have the same top as another. Of course I shall not slag these shops off completely because the more alternative exclusive stock of Topshop is not so bad.

Anyway...  back to cropped. I think this trend although exclusive is flattering and when done well can be the most stylized peice in your wardrobe...

Go Down the Yellow Lace Road

For generations lace and netting and textiles have played a massive role in ladies fashion. It has played major starring roles in any good movie. Layering has become more prominent and so has thickness. I find it important that as cheap tacky skimpy things are starting to replace lace etc we all remember about how AWESOME textiles are.

Felling Like Stuffing, Awkward Photos (Christmas)

Sorry for not posting for a while but I have been too busy lazing around and complaining about how bad and boring christmas is. Well actually things are starting to look up. I have recently been shopping in Portobello, got a haircut and met up with an old friend so I am now pretty satisfied apart from the fact I have to go to this christmas party that goes until around midnight full of crazy bad dancers and my mum getting a 'bit too jolly' if you know what I mean. But any excuse to wear PJ's all day and slop on the sofa and not having to watch my weight knowing that everyone is going back to school with their belly's twice the size as last term (at least I hope they do otherwise I'll be the fat kid) puts a smile on my face. The other thing that excites me about christmas are the TV specials because they are always better than the rest of the episode because producers are wanting us to get hooked on the next series.

And with that I bid you all a merry Christmas!
